Wildebeest Migration Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara Mid-range Lodge Tour
A 7-day wildebeest migration tour through Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara with lodge safaris. This tour will take you to some of Tanzania’s top attractions, including Lake Manyara, known for its tree-climbing lions, the Ngorongoro Crater, often called the Garden of Eden, Serengeti National Park, and Tarangire National Park. You will also have the chance to witness the incredible wildebeest migration as they cross the Mara River.
Day by day itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from the Airport
We will pick you up from either Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer you to your accommodation for an overnight stay in Arusha city
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
You will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha at 8:00 AM and take a 3-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a full-day game drive in the park, followed by a drive to Suricata Boma Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Tarangire National Park is located 115 km from Arusha and covers an area of 2,800 square kilometers. The park’s name comes from the Tarangire River, where many wild animals gather to drink. Major attractions include large herds of elephants, tree-climbing pythons, and impressive baobab trees. You’ll also have the chance to see lions, leopards, and a variety of other wildlife
Day 3: Tarangire NP – Serengeti National Park
After waking up this morning, you’ll enjoy a full breakfast and pack your luggage into the safari jeep. You’ll then embark on an en-route game drive towards Serengeti, with lunch inside the jeep.
Along the way, you’ll experience stunning views of the Rift Valley and Ngorongoro Crater, arriving in the Serengeti around 3:00 PM. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a game drive in central Serengeti, where you can witness the beautiful sunset. Afterwards, you will have dinner and spend the night at Zawadi Serengeti Camp, located within the Serengeti.
The major attractions in Serengeti include its vast plains and the famous Serengeti wildebeest migration, which involves around 1.5 million herbivores and their predators, moving across different parts of the park in search of water and food due to drought. Our driver-guide will ensure that you get the chance to witness part of the wildebeest migration. In addition to wildebeest, you will also see large numbers of zebra, along with smaller groups of Grant’s gazelles, Thomson’s gazelles, elands, and impalas throughout the Serengeti.
Day 4 : Serengeti National Park Full Game Drive
On this day, you’ll wake up early for a full breakfast before starting a full-day game drive in the Serengeti. Our driver will take you to the key areas of the park, ensuring you get the best possible wildlife experience.
We will follow the wildebeest migration during your tour, depending on their location at the time. The Great Migration varies each year, but the best chances of witnessing it are from June to September, while the wildebeest calving season takes place from January to March. During July to September, our driver will guide you to northern Serengeti, where you can witness the incredible spectacle of the wildebeest crossing the Mara River.
Over 1.5 million wildebeest, along with zebras and other grazers, migrate throughout the year in search of fresh pasture and water sources, following the seasonal rains. After your full-day game drive, you’ll return to Zawadi Serengeti Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Serengeti NP – Ngorongor Crater
You’ll wake up at 5:45 AM for an early breakfast and enjoy the breathtaking sunrise inside Serengeti. After breakfast, you’ll embark on an early morning game drive until around 11:30 AM, then return to the campsite for a hot lunch and pack your belongings into the jeep.
After finishing lunch, you’ll continue with a game drive in the Serengeti while making your way to Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll arrive at your Lodge in Karatu Town for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Ngorongor Crater – Lake Manyara National Park
You will wake up around 5:30 AM for breakfast. Afterward, you will descend to the floor of Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll have the opportunity to see all of the Big Five, along with various bird species and black rhinos that inhabit the crater. During the day, you’ll enjoy lunch inside the crater while taking in the natural beauty and observing the high concentrations of flamingos.
Following a 6 to 7-hour game drive on the crater floor, you will begin your ascent, stopping at the campsite to pack your luggage into the jeep in preparation for your drive back to Suricata Boma Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. After the crater tour, you will have a walking tour in Mto wa Mbu village, where you can experience local life, explore banana plantations, and taste some traditional local food.
Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha
After breakfast, you will head to Lake Manyara for a full day of game driving. Inside the park, you’ll have the chance to see tree-climbing lions and a multitude of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake. You’ll also visit a hot spring during your exploration.
Additionally, you’ll stop by a Maasai boma, where you can observe their way of life and learn about their culture and traditions. Later, you will drive back to Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay.
